WABA calls for:

• concerted global action to support women to combine breastfeeding and work, whether in the formal sector, non-formal sector, or at home 
• ratification and implementation of maternity protection laws and regulations by governments, in line with the ILO Maternity Protection Convention 
• inclusion of breastfeeding target indicators in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Come join MMPS HUMAN CHAIN to 1. Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week 2013 2. Encourage Malls to view public breastfeeding as normal human activity and not obscene. 3. Encourage Malls to understand that events like One Minute Simultaneous Breastfeeding do not need partitions to cover up public breastfeeding. Where Outside Gurney Plaza at the entry to restaurants, we will hold MMPS banner up When Sunday, 4th August 2013 Time 2 pm – 2.30pm How to form the Human chain? Hold Hands and form a long chain (see attached images) Who can take part? Everyone – women, men, children, the elderly – anyone who believes in the right to breastfeed and breastfeeding is normal and not obscene.

Peer Counselor Training on 24 May - 26 May 2013

The Malaysian Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Association (MBfPCA) will be conducting the Peer Counselor training course as requested by MMPS (Mother to mother Peer Support) Penang group. Details are as follows.

Date: 24 – 26 May 2013 (Friday - Sunday)
Time: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Venue: 45, Lebuh Bukit Jambul, Bayan Lepas, Penang 11900
Fee: RM230 / pax

This year our event is for a whole day and we have lots of games and prizes as well sharing and learning sessions on baby massage, what to feed baby after 6 months, yoga for mom and babies and our unique MMPS event held each year without fail - One Minute Simultaneous Breastfeeding event for those who are currently breastfeeding with mothers from all over Malaysia.

340 mothers breastfeeding in whole Malaysia making a new history

Every year the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) and UNICEF hold what’s called the World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) during the first week of August to promote breastfeeding the world over. MMPS uses this opportunity to reach out to families by holding the “One-Minute Simultaneous Breastfeeding” event where mothers breastfeed their babies for one minute together at the same time.

We would like to cordially invite all to join us at our event on 1st August 2009, at Dewan Kuliah A, USM Campus (opposite CIMB bank) from 9.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m., we will have interactive talks on breastfeeding during emergencies as the theme this year is “Breastfeeding: A Vital Emergency Response. Are you Ready?” and games for families. The significant event will be “One-Minute Simultaneous Breastfeeding” throughout the ENTIRE MALAYSIA. Our Guest of Honour for the day is Mr Youssouf Oomar from UNICEF.
