What are the BIOLOGICAL & CHEMICAL profiles of breast milk from Malaysian Mothers?
ReplyDeleteThis research is focused on the composition of breast milk collected from Malaysian Mothers, for further research of biological and chemical profiles of breast milk. The Study is conducted by USM Penang by Dr Min-Tze Liong (Ph.D, VU, Melb )
Breast milk contains nutrients such as protein, oligosaccharides and fatty acids, as well as trace amount of metallic elements that are crucial for the healthy development of infants.
Many are also not aware that breast milk contains valuable biology parameters such as the presence of beneficial microorganisms that promote a healthy and strong gut of the receiving infant.
Beneficial microorganisms such as lactic acid bacteria and probiotics can fight against bad bacteria in the gut, assuring a balance of good bacteria
However, various factors may affect the composition of breast milk, such as environmental conditions, genetics and the health status of a mother.
Requirement of Participants:
ReplyDeleteLactating period: 0-12 months
Age of participants: 20-40 years old
Participants must be healthy, MUST NOT be smoking, drinking, with a history of severe diseases, and/or on long term medication prescription
Prior to breast milk collection: participants must not be on antibiotics, any yogurt or probiotics products for 2 weeks prior.
