It was a great pleasure to be at Dgarden Confinement Home to share all the important practices of breastfeeding. Indeed Dgarden Confinement has given an option for mothers to fully breastfeed their babies. 8 out 10 mothers who stayed there exclusively breastfeed their babies.

Below is my opinion on how do choose a confinement centre. I had visited so many confinement center, some of them are just too expensive, while others are relatively cheap. Pricing are very subjective, just check what kind of facility a confinement home provides.

All confinement centres should offer the basics: 

• Bed and board for mummy and baby ( perhaps the dad ). 
• Trained support staff (usually a confinement lady or experiences nurse ) to help care for baby 24 hours a day. Single lady ...you better think twice.
• Laundry service, baby products such as nappies, nappy cream and baby shampoo 
• All meals are included. Herbal soups with traditional recipes are excellent. I knew one of the confinement center in Penang has a very good recipes. 
• Size also matters. In some centres, you will find yourself one of only a handful of mums , in others, you may find yourself part of a rather large crowd! 
• Check the centre’s refund policy in case you want to leave before your baby’s full moon. 
• Who does the cooking ? I noticed some of the confinement home buy food from outside. Preferable if you can choose a trained person with good hygiene.
• Any other support services like breastfeeding talk, baby massage class or others?
• Word of mouth is always a good way to go, too. Ask around for those who had stayed there before. Do not rely on those facebook feedback, who will put a negative feedback for the seek of business. Confinement home is a business. Not a charity ..find out your right !
• A friendly breastfeeding environment, it does not need to be "Fully Breastfeeding" as long as they are supporting you for next 30 days of journey.
